Carbone is dedicated to making a positive impact in the world and is committed to giving back 2% of its revenue to charitable causes. We have identified two specific domains to support: environment and open-source software.
We create documents that our customers can print, which of course consumes wood resources. We hope to offset some of this impact by supporting reforestation efforts and helping to preserve the world's forests.
We call upon the ReforestAction association to carry out these actions.
On the 8th of February 2023, we bought 400 trees in Vendée (France)
Open-source software has the potential to drive innovation, lower barriers to entry for small businesses, and promote equality and accessibility. By supporting organizations that develop and maintain open-source software, we are helping to create a more level playing field for businesses of all sizes and to promote the free exchange of information and ideas.
We also reduce the energy consumption of Carbone as much as possible. One way we do this is by optimizing the document generation process.
From the beginning, Carbone has used a unique algorithm which generates optimized code for each template.
We are currently building a document converter from the ground up. This new converter will be released soon, in 2023. Here are some results compared to existing solutions to convert a 950-pages DOCX to a PDF:
Ultimately, our goal is not to save the planet on our own, but to do our part and help those who are making a difference. By supporting reforestation efforts and reducing our energy consumption, we hope to positively impact and contribute to a more sustainable future.
